Eggcraft

The custom of giving eggs on Easter Sunday can be traced back beyond the birth of Christ to 900 BC to ancient China, where eggs were decorated and used in festivals to celebrate the return of Spring and the continuance of live. With the advent of Christianity it was natural that the egg should be used to symbolise the Resurrection and the custom of ex-changing eggs at Easter became firmly established.

I decorate eggs in what I refer to as the Faberge style and rather than doing this only at Easter I do it all year round for all occasions and just for the fun of it. I however I use real egg shells which I cut hinge and decorate in many different ways, which is why I love it so much. We do NOT use the eggs of protected or wild birds. We mainly use duck, goose, and ostrich eggs. I’m a member of the Egg Crafters Guild of Great Britain which was founded in 1979 by Joan Cutts
