Eclipse Pattern
This is a pattern that I completed shortly after the Eclipse.
This is the original pattern I used for the eclipse design. It is not mathmatically
accurate so I adjusted as I worked the pattern. Prick through pattern one onto your
card. Pattern one (on the right) has a main circle, 2 3/4 inches, with holes every four degrees. The
outer circle is the same size but shifted off-centre slightly. The inside dots are
fifteen degrees apart. Join the centre to each of the points inside the circle.
You now have twelve spokes out from the centre. Now join the end of each of these
spokes to the edge of the circle.
Start with the A points marked on diagram 1 (see below). Join
each A to 8 or 9 (see below) points. You should alternate points, so that there should
be gaps between each point. Once you have done all the A points start on the
B points.
Join each B point to 8 or 9 points that you did not use when you did the A
points. The edge of the inner circle is worked by joining point 1 to point 12, then
point 13 to point 2. Continue this pattern round the circle until complete. The outer
circle is worked joining in two shades of gold, joining point 1 to point 16. Then
point 2 to 17 in the lighter shade. This is continued to the end. Over this work the
darker shade joining point 1 to 11 and 12 to 2. Continue this round the outer circle.
