Parchment Craft

Is a modern version of an old craft where a special paper is first pricked then embossed to produce beautiful designs. My favourite part of parchment craft is the lace work which surrounds the card. The title you can see is one I use when setting up displays as it shows different lace patterns.

Although this is my favourite decorating technique you can also use other tools to produce lace work without having to cut and center designs can be plain white, colored with pencils, paints or oil pastels. The plain white work is called embossing and is produced by stretching the paper. The color will change from the original to a pure white. There are a number of different embossing methods which give different shades.

I use parchment craft to make gift cards for all occasions. People love to recieve a card that has been specially made for them. For instance the pansy card below was made for my friend Barbara's birthday as she loves these flowers. In this case the pansies have been colored using blendable pencils.

There are a lot of books on parchment craft and I have included a page reviewing some of these books. And I have included a page with some of the more interesting internet links for parchment craft.
